In regards to theses written by researches using the Animal Facility, in order to specify in the thesis what kind of animal experimentation was used, use this page as a guide.

Writing your thesis

In regards to animal experimentation

When publishing a thesis from results gained by use of the Animal Facility, refer to the following paragraph as an example.

All animals were housed under a 12-h dark–light cycle (light from 07:00 to 19:00) at 22 ± 1°C with ad libitum food and water. The Animal Care and Use Committee of Kumamoto University School of Medicine approved the protocols for animal experiments.

This is to demonstrate that the animals used in the experiment were bred under the following conditions.
  1. - 12 hour light/dark cycle
  2. - Room temperature of 22 ± 1°C
  3. - Water and food freely available
  4. - The animal experiments have been approved by the Kumamoto University Animal Care and Use Committee
Refer to the following thesis as a guide.

Regarding acknowledgments

When facility staff has offered technical support, please list them in your acknowledgments with a statement similar to the following.

We are grateful to members of the Center for Animal Resources and Development in Kumamoto University for their important contributions to the experiments.

We are grateful to Dr. ### in the Center for Animal Resources and Development in Kumamoto University for his(her) important contributions to the experiments.

Regarding co-authorship

When there was a significant contribution by facility staff, we ask that you please consider their inclusion as co-authors.

Summaries of published theses

As the Animal Facility is a facility for the support of animal experimentation, documentation is needed in order to evaluate the level of that support. For this, a summary of published theses by researchers who used the facility is necessary.

Use this page for reference and please send us a list of published theses that involved use of the Animal Facility by the end of each academic year.

 Thank you for cooperation.
